How far is the cabin from DC and Richmond?
About two hours from both. We're on a hillside above the Shenandoah Valley in Luray, Virginia, roughly 100 miles from DC, and a similar drive from Richmond. Close enough to leave after work on Friday and be on the deck by sunset.
When can I stay, and how do I book?
HOM Villas opens September 1, 2026. You'll be able to book on Airbnb and Vrbo, or directly here on our site. People on the list get the direct booking link first, before dates open to everyone, so the list is the way to get the weekend you want.
Is there a minimum stay?
Two nights. Weekends and midweek work-from-the-mountains stretches are both welcome.
What's your cancellation policy?
We'll publish full booking and cancellation terms when reservations open in 2026. If you're on the list, you'll see them first.
How do I find it, and check in?
We'll send clear directions and everything you need before you arrive. Check-in is fully contactless, so you can settle in on your own schedule, no meet-up required.
What's the drive in like? Is the road steep or gravel?
Easy the whole way. Paved roads right to the cabin and a flat approach, with no steep mountain switchbacks, no gravel, and nothing to dread on a snowy weekend. Bring any car; getting here shouldn't ask anything of you.
How many people does it sleep?
Eight, across three bedrooms. A main-level bedroom with a king and a bunk bed, an upstairs king suite, and a mezzanine king suite. Three bathrooms. The two upstairs bedrooms are en-suite, and the main-level room has a bath right beside it.
Is it better for couples or a group?
Both. Three private bedrooms make it easy for two couples, a family, or up to eight friends. Everyone gets their own space, and the great room and kitchen are built for being together.
Is there a hot tub?
Yes, private, on the deck, facing the ridge. Best at dusk, better after a hike, best of all when the fog rolls in.
Is it comfortable year-round?
Yes. The cabin is fully heated and cooled, with a gas fireplace by the TV for cold nights and a fire-pit area down by the pond for the warmer ones. Just as good for a snowy January weekend as an August stretch with the windows open.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, we're pet friendly. There's a $150 fee that covers up to two pets.
Is there parking and EV charging?
Plenty of room for up to five cars, plus a J1772 EV charger on site so you arrive home and plug in.
What's nearby?
A lot, and all close. Luray Caverns is less than ten minutes away, a grocery store about eight, and downtown Luray's restaurants are right there too. The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is minutes away for tubing, kayaking, and fishing, and it's around twenty minutes to Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park. We've written up three days in Luray and Shenandoah if you'd like the full itinerary.
How's the stargazing?
We're far from city light, and Shenandoah National Park next door is known for its dark skies. On a clear night the deck is the whole show.
How's the cell signal and Wi-Fi?
Starlink keeps the Wi-Fi fast and reliable, enough for video calls and a full work day. Cell coverage is solid too, T-Mobile especially, but the Starlink is your sure thing.
Is there a pond? Can we swim or fish?
There's a private pond below the deck. It's not for swimming, but we're stocking it with fish, so bring a rod, or use ours, and cast a line at golden hour.
How much space is there?
Eight acres. Room to wander, a pond, trees, and a deck that looks out over the valley and the Blue Ridge. The kind of quiet you came for.
